ABOUT
Help raise funds for Larchmont Charter School’s Music Program, which serves several hundred children each year. The House Concert features performances by singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalists JOANNE RAND and BARBARA COHEN.

Dubbed "Psychedelic-Folk-RevivalJoanne_Rand_sm", JOANNE RAND has been touring nationally for 25 years, appearing with Bonnie Raitt, Bob Weir, John Hartford, and others. Rand’s compositions have been compared to Aaron Copland and her voice was dubbed "hair-raising" by Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Gary Snyder. Rand’s songs traverse love, politics, conservation, spirituality and life with a seasoned-to-perfection voice, that, according to Terry Tempest Williams, ‘Opens the doors of creation”. Rand recently released her 13th CD, “Stories from the Inside Out,” recorded in Nashville. Writing and playing music since childhood in the Deep South, Rand cut her performance teeth playing bluegrass in Alaska.

BARBARA COHEN’s career as a recording artist includesBarbara_Cohen co-founding the Virgin Recordsʼ band, Brother Sun, Sister Moon, collaborating with Englandʼs rave luminaries, Orbital, and singing lead vocals for France’s experimental duo, Air. She has also released several critically acclaimed albums both as a solo artist and with her eclectic folk band Little Lizard, and the rowdy, alt-country ensemble Farm Accident (Red House Records). Cohenʼs music expertly embraces genres from folk and roots rock to trip-hop, electronica and world music. Her music offers up a gorgeous, dark-streaked evocation of bitter truths, yearning and redemption.
